Terms of Service

These Terms are a contract between you and Pattern Systems Ltd (“we”, “us”) for the BabySpeak app and website. By downloading or using BabySpeak you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Entertainment only. BabySpeak invents funny captions. It does not diagnose, treat, or interpret real infant needs. Do not rely on it for feeding, sleep, health or safety decisions.
1. Who we are
Pattern Systems Ltd, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: Suite 12, Victoria Hall, Rawlinson Street, Barrow-in-Furness, LA14 3UD, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@babyspeak.app.
2. Eligibility
You must be old enough to use the App Store or Google Play in your country and able to enter a contract. The app is for parents and caregivers, not for children as account holders. If you upload a photo of a child you confirm you are the parent/guardian or have their permission. See Children’s Privacy Notice.
3. The Service
BabySpeak classifies a playful “mood” from on-device audio analysis, writes a joke caption, optionally voices it, and lets you share a clip. Features may change. AI output can be odd, repetitive or imperfect. We may apply fair-use rate limits.
4. Free translations and subscriptions
New accounts receive 5 free AI translations. After that, a subscription is required:
- Monthly: £3.99 per month
- Yearly: £29.99 per year (shown as the better-value option)
There is no weekly plan. Exact storefront prices may differ by currency and tax. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in:
- iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions
- Android: Play Store → Payments & subscriptions
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Restoring purchases is available in the paywall.
Paid accounts have a fair-use cap of about 30 translations per day and a short burst cap, to stop abuse. We may tighten limits if costs are being exploited.
5. Acceptable use
Do not: farm free generations with fake accounts; scrape or reverse-engineer the Service; upload photos you have no right to use; use BabySpeak to harass anyone; attempt to jailbreak rate limits or payment; generate or share unlawful or sexual content involving minors (we will report it). We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
6. Your content
You keep rights in recordings, photos and clips you create. You grant us a limited licence to process what you send (mood labels, captions, a one-shot photo) solely to run the feature you asked for. Shared clips may include a short BabySpeak end card. Once you post to TikTok, Instagram or similar, that platform’s terms apply.
7. Intellectual property
BabySpeak, the wordmark, the cartoon kit and the Service are owned by Pattern Systems Ltd or our licensors. You may not copy the product or brand except for personal, non-commercial sharing of your own clips.
8. Affiliates and referrals
Creator commissions and friend-to-friend extra translations are described in the Affiliate Terms and in the app. We may change or end those programmes with reasonable notice. You cannot pay us outside the store to unlock digital features.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited under English law. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for anyone relying on a caption as if it were a real translation of a baby’s needs.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time (in-app or babyspeak.app/delete.html). We may suspend access for breach or abuse. Store subscriptions continue until you cancel them with Apple or Google.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after the new date means you accept the update. Material price changes for existing subscribers will be notified as required by Apple, Google and consumer law.
12. Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence. If you are a UK consumer you also have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
